My name is Thomas Kelly, I have a band called Tired Kid. I’m based in Toronto, ON and I play music inspired by 90s alt rock bands that meet classic bands of the 60s and 70s. Most songs tend to have a particular jangle to them reminiscent of bands like Neil Young or Pavement but there is a definite pop influence that could sound like the Beatles or Big Star even.
I’ve been working in the studio with Aaron Goldstein for the past 5 or 6 years and he’s helped me achieve a perfect mesh of retro influence and modern influence. A song idea I bring to the table could be inspired by a current band like Alvvays or Snail Mail and he ends up hearing something completely different, yet perfectly adjacent in sound.
As a result, the songs that you hear all pull elements of Canadian 90s rock along with 60s, 70’s and even 2000’s grunge/alt rock bands. There’s a bit of everything-no idea is ignored.
