Helena Li

Story

Helena Li is a Toronto-based singer and songwriter whose musical journey started in Beijing in the 90s, years before she moved to Canada in her late teens. After spending some time in the music industry as a professional, Helena made the bold decision to embark on her dream path as a recording artist, and break boundaries for artists with Asian immigrant backgrounds in North America and beyond — a dream which has come to fruition with her debut single, “Montana.”

To craft her unique, story-driven brand of pop, Helena draws inspiration from Western pop legends including Ali Tamposi, Marina and The Diamonds, Ava Max, Sia, and Florence + The Machine, infusing the synthesis with a unique blend of Eastern
elements. Accompanying her unique brand of music with authentic lyrics based on her personal experiences with love and life, Helena’s goal is to write songs that people can relate to, whether it’s identifying with elements of her stories or her heartfelt expression of her feelings.

The release of “Montana,” which was produced by Grammy award-winning producer and former Ludacris collaborator Josh Igloo Monroy, marks the official debut of Helena’s vibrant, upbeat, and colorful musical style. The title is inspired by a mystery person — Helena’s first girl crush whose name she never found out — and tells the story of the discovery of her new orientation, a pivotal moment during her years in Vancouver’s historic Davie Street neighborhood.
2023 will see Helena release a slew of new music, starting with an EP that will explore a new range of stories inspired by her love life, followed up by a danceable summer single — both of which will be officially announced in due course.
