Banman

Story

My name is Jordan Banman and I am 28 years old, born in Hamilton, Ontario, Canada. I started writing lyrics when I was 16 or 17 years old. Eminem was my inspiration because I was so fascinated by how he could tell a story so well. I became addicted to cocaine at 16 or 17 years old and began to write about my struggles with addiction. As I came up with lyrics, I began to fantasize about one day releasing my own music. It’s been a dream of mine for years. I was heavily addicted to crack and crystal meth, which held me back from pursueing my dream. I’ve overdosed and had to have been revived, I’ve been homeless, living out of my vehicle. I’ve been to 4 Treatment centers and been to detox centers over 30 times. I’ve been going to AA/NA/CA meetings for 8 years and haven’t been able to stay clean. In fact, it’s crazy to me that I survived. But, I’ve recently found God and with finding God, came recovery and with recovery, came the opportunity to share my story/music with the world, which gives me purpose. It’s strange to say but in a way, today I’m grateful for all the suffering of my addiction because I wouldnt have some of my songs if it weren’t for certain outcomes.

I studied at Humber College to become an arborist. This was my career for 6-7years, it was a solid career. On April 27th , 2023 I was in a horrific workplace accident. While lifted 30 feet in the air in a bucket truck, I cut my wrist with the chainsaw. This could have been fatal as I was only 1mm way from cutting my artery. It was a career ending accident as I now have PTSD from chainsaws. I was put on WSIB and was given the opportunity to be sent to school for a career change since I am not able to return to my career as an arborist. I was scared because I just lost my career, but I had to make a decision with what I wanted to do for the rest of my life. With this change I realized all I ever wanted to do was release my music, to touch the hearts of others, and inspiring recovering addicts and addicts who are still suffering, that recovery is possible.

I have a 6 track EP called Ups & Downs which is being released February 28, 2025. I released my first single on January 1st 2025, which is named “Back Up”, which is on the Ups & Downs EP. There is an official music video, and lyric video for Back Up, on Youtube. My second single, “Take Me Back,” dropped February 1st, 2025. My Ups & Downs EP is a concept album. It’s designed to be listened to in order because the whole EP is a story. It’s called Ups & Downs because there is a variety of different vibes. There are 3 upbeat types of songs, which I consider the “ups”, and there are 3 dark songs about my addiction, which I consider the “downs”. I’ve had this EP written for years, but my addiction kept holding me back from getting in the studio and held me back from making moves. Now that I’ve found God, I’ve been off hard drugs for a couple of months and now I have the opportunity to share my story with the world.
