After years of being a sought after side-man and developing his ear for what makes a great song, Wes Allen is launching his own solo project.
Wes’s music lives where folk meets soul, with subtle synthesizers adding something new and unexpected. His sound is inspired by songwriters like Bon Iver, Bahamas, Ray Charles, and Joni Mitchell. His classical guitar riffs blend with RnB bass lines under a rich baritone vocal with honest and vulnerable lyrics. His music will have you remembering the way you felt as a kid in late summer. Wes’s Debut EP was recorded with producer Chester Hansen of Badbadnotgood at Studio 69 in Toronto.
Wes is a Juno award winner and two-time Grammy nominee. He has played bass and added his personal touch on songs such as Get You and We Find Love by Daniel Caesar and has shared the stage with him countless times. He has also played with the likes of Kellylee Evans, Aaron Comeau, Raven Shields, Whitney Rose, and Larnell Lewis. He has played as a member of a house band for artists such as: H.E.R, Molly Johnson, Jessie Reyez, Alessia Cara, Jackie Richardson, Sarah Harmer, and many more. He has played on Late Night with Seth Meyers and The Late, Late Show with James Corden, and, at 20 years old, Wes played Massey Hall, and the Montreal Jazzfest mainstage with some of the best jazz musicians in the country. He is now turning his focus away from helping others with their visions and focusing on his own.
