Royal Castles

Story

Energetic, hard hitting and hooks for days, Royal Castles make nostalgic but contemporary garage-pop. Hailing from the Royal City of Guelph, Ontario and featuring the power trio of Katrin Sawatzky, Jordan Gabriel and AJ Johnson (Juno-nominated Cuff the Duke), the three-piece blend riffy guitar licks, wooly bass and ear-candified harmonies. Their sophomore album, ‘Just The Hits’ (2021), recorded at North Of Princess Studio with producer Zane Whitfield (Glorious Sons, Blue Stones), maintains the familiar garage-rock feel that is crucial to any Royal Castles tune.

Since the release of their 2021 sophomore album ‘Just the Hits’, Royal Castles have experienced strong momentum in Canada with sold out headlining performances in anchor markets, supporting positions at mainstay music festivals, and substantial traction at DSP formats including editorial playlist support from Spotify’s New Music Friday Canada, Fresh Finds Rock, Indie Allstars, Ready to Rock and Rock Your Block. The band has fostered notable growth, opening for Elliott Brood, Born Ruffians, Monowhales and Crown Lands. Internationally, the group has repeatedly toured in Spain.

Royal Castles are entering their third album cycle to continue this momentum with their upcoming EP, “Singles Night”, showcasing their sonic evolution and featuring the much-anticipated single, “Bad Business Barbie”.

Royal Castles are Katrin Sawatzky, Jordan Gabriel and AJ Johnson.
