Into a ghost is the debut offering from Toronto indie-rock outfit Josh Mover & The Shakers. This five song EP offers up lyrically-centered songs about longing, lost love, loneliness, with the indie-pop sensibilities of the magnetic fields meets elvis costello and sparks.
Josh culled together his close friends and talented toronto rock alumni to play on this record. Ben Reinhartz (Dilly Dally) is behind the kit and Mathew Wronski (The Sulks) lays down the bass — while Joseph Landau (ex-formalists) Will Hunter (The Nutrients) and Clara Klein round out the line-up.
Mastered by David Newfeld (Broken Social Scene) and recorded and mixed at Union Sound Company by Ian Gomes (Odonis Odonis, Teenanger), this record was all recorded in two days in early September and was largely fueled by Figs Breakfast on Queen east. During the recording Ian and Josh would take some time off and go and shoot some hoops nearby. As one might expect, Ian was victorious and Josh returned to the studio the loser — which only further helped him deliver the loser themed vocals later on in the day.
